HKTDC DG Studio Showcase @ 1Utama Shopping Centre

6 March 2019

Hi kawanss! It's been awhile since my last blog update and it's been an even longer while since the last time I attended any events. But hey, I've finally crawled out of my little cave (for a few hours) to check out DG Studio's showcase of fun and quirky lifestyle products from Hong Kong - courtesy of HKTDC a.k.a Hong Kong Trade Development Council. Their job is to bring in products and services from Hong Kong to all over the world! So yes, other than TVB dramas, Hong Kong also has a number of homegrown brands carrying fun and innovative lifestyle products that may even come in handy if you're in the midst of gift shopping!

I'm not gonna dilly-dally any further, so if you're interested, do read on to see some of the cute and interesting products that caught my eye!

Over at DGStudio's showcase, you'll see beautiful displays by 12 homegrown brands from Hong Kong showcasing their star products. The products displayed varies from quirky and innovative kitchen appliances all the way to cute home decor pieces. The 12 brands featured were - Artiart, Konstar, Team Green, Hoobbe, Hyone, Tea Lab, M.H. Blocks, Eco Concepts, Paris Garden, Cardhoda, Kilovest, and SOAP Studio. If you missed their pop-up booth, no worries as you can still find their products at selected Parksons, Times Bookstores, and CM3(Sunway Pyramid). Full list of which outlets are carrying DG Studio products can be found at the end of this post :D For now let's take a look at my personal favourites.

Paris Garden. This brand is known for their DIY home gardening kits. Each kit comes ready with soil, seeds, and the container itself, all you need to prepare on your own is water. Depending on what you're looking to plant, Paris Garden offers a variety of kits like kitchen herbs, fruits, vegetables, and even flowers.

The brand has also came up with a series of mini cute packaged kits perfect for kids to learn more about gardening from a young age. This one here is from their 'Ocean Animals Grass Hair Kit' series!

Tea Lab. Ok even though I'm more of a coffee person, lately because of all the constant sore throat, I have started drinking more tea than coffee whenever I'm home and I think these tea infusers would make the perfect gift for those that finds the process of making tea therapeutic?

If you haven't guessed it already, these quirky tea infusers are part of Tea Lab's goal to provide tea lovers a more enjoyable tea drinking experience. Take this cute piggy tea infuser for example, it's my favourite out of the bunch and I don't host 'tea parties' but if you do, I can definitely see this being a great conversation starter.

There was also a live demonstration session during the event and here we have Eyka Farhana demonstrating Tea Lab's ELIXIR+ Glass Tea Stick

Artiart. If you often find yourself spilling your drinks at the table, Artiart's gotchu covered. Their brand specializes in kitchen/home appliances with an innovative twist. Their bestsellers are the AR Iceberg Suction Cup and the AR Elegance Suction Bottle.

As you can see from Venice Min's demonstration, the suction at the bottom of the bottle will cling onto the surface lowering the chances of you spilling your drink all over your desk. However I'm not too sure on the types of surfaces the suction would cling onto.

Konstar. Here's yet another brand with innovative kitchen appliances that will make your life easier. Some of their bestsellers are their Salad Master and Super Apple Peeler. If you find it a chore to 'dry off' your vegetables after washing em, the Salad Master is probably gonna be your best friend as all you have to do is pull a handle and it'll wash your vegetables while separating all the water for you.

Dahlia Shazwan was invited to demo the Salad Master for everyone to see.

SOAP Studio. Now enough of kitchen appliances, if you're into comic books and crafts, here's the section for you. SOAP Studio is a toy company from Hong Kong known for their figurines. They're best known for their DC figurines series in collaboration with Hong Kong artist b.wing.

If you're looking for a mini cute Wonder woman figurine and you think pop figures are a little too mainstream for your liking, you could probably consider this one from the SOAP Studio X b.wing X Justice League series!

Team Green. Finally we have Team Green and their 3D Puzzles. In case you couldn't tell, I saved my favourite for last. This pretty display are 3D puzzle sets you can buy home and assemble on your own to double as a cute home decor piece. The following are my personal favourites!

Super cute right? This one here with the green tram really takes me back to my trip to Hong Kong during CNY earlier last month!
