Candy Gets Hungry #6: Everything is Popssible - A Magi Planet Popcorn Studio review

Work is starting to pile up these few days, which is actually a good thing for me since I personally like how it keeps me occupied. Though I must admit, staring at the computer screen for long hours does drain my energy and give me constant headaches @_@ Anyways, to those reading this post, I just wanted to pop in and give a short review on these yummy popcorns that has been keeping me and my colleagues at work company as a yummy addictive office snack. :p

Before I begin, I would like to thank All Young/Magi Planet for sending these popcorns to me to try. I won’t dwell in much about Magi Planet but you know there’s always that one store at shopping malls giving out free popcorn samples? I’m not sure if there are other brands out there that does the same, but the ones I always see giving out free samples generously are from Magi Planet (formerly known as Planet Popcorn) And when knowing that Magi Planet was rebranded from Planet Popcorn, I already knew that it’ll be good!

So, as I’ve mentioned earlier, Magi Planet has sent me a bundle of 8 packets of popcorn to try (https://goo.gl/cqoepL), 4 flavours in total. Namely, Chili Cheese, Crystal Salted Caramel, Takoyaki, and Corn Soup. Their popcorns are available in two sizes, 1 regular size pack as well as a handy “travel pack”. To identify which packet was which flavour, I had to look at the back where there is a label with the flavour, grammage, ingredients etc listed on it. However, a quick recommendation for the brand would be to include an English label for those who does not read mandarin. Now moving on~ Let’s find out which flavour did I love the best and the least :o Also I have rated the popcorns below next to the name with the highest being 5 ♡s

Chili Cheese ♡♡♡♡♡

This was by far my favourite! I’m not a fan of spicy food but there’s just something about this flavour that draws me in so much! This flavour has a sweet and salty taste to it. All the popcorns had a fluffy crunch which was pretty nice because it doesn’t stick to my teeth even though they were both soft and crunchy and the same time!! Though for those that would prefer a solid crunch when it comes to their popcorns, keep this in mind alright? As for those that isn’t into spicy flavours like me, I would  recommend this to you guys because it has a nice cheesy flavour to it with just a touch of spice. I did wish that this was a little less sweet though!

Corn Soup ♡♡

I’m surprised that this flavour really lived to its name! In fact, it was the only flavour that truly wow-ed me because it felt like something I’ve never tried before. I loved the corn flavour in it but wasn’t so big of a pepper fan. The pepper wasn’t spicy or hot but rather I personally dislike strong pepper flavouring in my food. Apart from that I did find this flavour slightly sweeter than I personally wanted it to be. Some of my colleagues really loved it though!!

Takoyaki ♡♡♡

To me this didn’t really taste like takoyaki but rather those sweet-savoury Japanese biscuits with seaweed on them? Yup! I think that’s the best way I could describe this flavour. Although it doesn’t taste like what it’s called, I’d say it’s close? Overall taste of this is pretty tasty :)

Crystal Salted Caramel ♡♡♡♡

This is by far the most popcorn-like flavour a popcorn could ever get. This flavour will bring you back to the basics but I highly recommend it to those who finds the typical caramel popcorns too sweet because in my opinion this was actually the least sweet out of the bunch I’ve tried. If you’re concerned about the saltiness from the Himalaya salt used, fret not because only a touch of salt was added and it actually gave a great flavouring to it :)

Overall, I think these flavours tasted great. Although when it comes to flavours, I do believe that it is a hit and miss sort of thing for everyone depending on our individual preferences. But one thing for sure is that these flavours really do live up to its given name, so good job on that Magi Planet!

How to shop from Taobao ft. ezbuy

Hey guys! Do you want to know my secret to ‘shopping affordably’? If yes, then please continue reading because this is yet another post that will save you loads of money and hassle!

Being a full time student with 0 fixed income has taught me many things over the years. One of them was shopping affordably online - specifically from a China site called “Taobao”. However, shopping from Taobao wasn’t exactly an easy task back then, even now actually so here’s my little not-so-new discovery to help you guys out! 6 years ago I’ve jumped from agent to agent for my Taobao orders, some were unreliable and some were just too costly with their rates. Thankfully when the agent I was using previously decided to quit, I’ve managed to stumble across this website called 65 Daigou which has also recently rebranded itself to ezbuy.

Long story short, ezbuy is like my saviour and my bank account’s BFF. Earlier I mentioned that shopping from Taobao directly is quite troublesome and that ezbuy saved me a lot of unnecessary troubles right? Now let me explain to you my “taobao nightmares” and how ezbuy solved them! 

01.   Language barrier

From personal experience I’ve noticed that one of the main reasons most of my friends find shopping on Taobao difficult is because of the website’s language. Taobao’s website is all in mandarin meaning when you’re searching for a specific item, you have to search it in mandarin too. Personally my mandarin isn’t all that well either so it’s great how ezbuy is able to help me quite a bit when I’m facing difficulties in figuring out what I want in mandarin.

02.   Payment method

One of the reasons why I have always relied on shopping services was because I couldn’t sign up for an Alipay account. Alipay is like your little ‘online taobao wallet’ something that got me so confused and frustrated when trying to sign up for it then in the end I gave up. ezbuy on the other hand was very easy to sign up, I fill up the registration form, wait for my SMS account verification code and viola I’m done. Also with ezbuy, I can pay for my shopping via E-banking, Manual Internet Banking Transfers, Credit card, and also ATM bank transfers. 

03.   Limited customer service & after sales services

Another thing with shopping from Taobao that we have to consider would be liaising with the sellers. From personal experiences, Taobao sellers ALWAYS has a tendency to either send me the wrong items or simply just lose my parcel. To the point where I’ve lost track of the number of times ezbuy has been my saviour thanks to their ‘item inspection’ service that comes inclusive with their ‘Buy-For-Me’ service. Often times taobao sellers would also take a long time to dispatch my orders and when that happens ezbuy would first help me to check with the seller numerous times then when no response was given, ezbuy would refund me my money. During ‘item inspection’ process, if the taobao seller sends the wrong item to me or sends me items with defects, ezbuy would also help me liaise with the seller for an exchange or a refund.  ^^ As you can see, I’ve been using their services since 2013 until today!

  04. Delivery Services

Actually by now I think you guys already know how spoilt I am with ezbuy right? Let me tell you one last reason I use ezbuy ok? Affordable shipping fees and sensitive air shipping availability. Giving is caring - Chinese New Year 2016 with Coca-Cola

Hey everyone, college is starting real soon! My results are out and I guess I’ll say that I did pretty well this time. Definitely way way waaaayyyyyy better than the previous semester. The next person is probably the most annoying person that I can never hate in my entire life because she has practically drooled all over me when she was a cute round little baby. This person is my little sister that has ngam ngam (recently) entered secondary school. Adapting form 1 life is not easy, especially when you are coming from a Chinese primary school background. So for this Chinese New Year, I will be giving her the Coca-Cola can that symbolizes ‘Academic success’ to wish her good luck in her studies.

Every family is bound to have arguments once in a while. To me, arguments could bring the family closer as we would all learn to compromise and understand one another better. Because if her job in Singapore goes well this year as well, she won’t be returning to Australia so soon which gives me more time to consider whether to further my studies in Singapore! Now now now, this person has probably seen me in so many ways. Namely, lazy, hungry, tired, happy, very very hyper, sad, very very hungry and also my ‘suddenly occasionally hardworking’ mood. This person’s my main babe, the bestie. :> So she has pretty much been my ‘贵人’ for one too many occasions during secondary and trust me, I miss that so much. I miss not having the need to pay full attention in class knowing that there is someone there that is able to re-explain the entire econs textbook to me in a day’s time. I know I’m never really your ‘贵人’ but it’s ok!!! This CNY, I’ll wish you with a can of Coca-Cola that symbolizes ‘Benefactors Aplenty’ okkk? He’s been around so many times to witness me stressing over my assignments and blessing me with food whenever I get hungry (which is like all the time), plus he plays the guitar, so that’s why I love him hehe. 

Lastly, there are two Coca-Cola cans that I will be giving to mommy dearest. This would be the cans symbolizing ‘Everlasting youthfulness’ and ‘Abundance in Wealth’. Women in general are all about beauty. Youth especially means a lot to us women. After all, you don’t see women getting surgeries to get wrinkles, do you? Nope. So every girl you wish them forever young, they’ll be happy also la. Same goes to my mommy and I. As for ‘Abundance in wealth’, my mom has been dreaming to get a property of her own. She’s been working so hard to bring up both me and my sister, so I really hope that 2016 would be a prosperous year for her. Bringing up two kids and giving them the best that she could is not a job everyone can do and yet she is capable of doing it. Thank you and love you mommy, ❤

Smooth sailing career: Sailboats are used to represent 'money boats' sailing on the calm blue sea. It's like wishing one a smooth path on their career journey.

Flourish in love: Did you know that the number of magpies within a frame signifies different meanings? Two magpies represent union in joy! This can is perfect for your loved one! Academic success: Long story short, as a student myself, this is a Coca-Cola can design I would give to all my friends or any relative or junior of mine taking their national exams this year haha. Its like wishing them 'Good luck on your papers!' in a cooler way than just dropping them a text message.
